The War

There once was a battle

A battle between earth
And sky

And the great browngray of
The land stood firm
And the laughing whitegray of
The sky ate the earth

As the clouds
Decend

Heaven's white
       Eating
Earth's heart

White clouds, cotton shredded, torn
By restless hands
Top the mountain

A volcano's top, but of rain, not ash
And everything fades

                    It all fades
Into the end
                      The endless sky

And all the Earth is
           White
